Wilbert Herman Werner passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls at the age of 89 years, 4 months and 19 days. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, June 1, 2018, from 5 until 7 p.m., at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue on Saturday, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., at the church.

Wilbert was born to August and Ruth (Reetz) on January 8, 1929. He was baptized at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Posen Township and confirmed at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of Flora Township. He attended District 8 country school of Middle Creek through the 8th grade.
Wilbert married Harriet Miller on December 27, 1953 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. After their marriage they lived together in Washington where their daughter Brenda was born. Wilbert served in the United States Army from April 1953- April 1955 and was stationed at Fort Louis, Washington. After his discharge from the military, they moved to Brownton to farm, where their son Tom was born.
In 1959, they moved to farm just east of Delhi, where their second son Tim was born. The family raised cattle, hogs, chickens and grain over the many years. Up until 3 years ago, Wilbert helped Tom with the harvest every fall.
Wilbert served on Church Councils in Delhi Lutheran Church and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Belview. He was a current member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church of Redwood Falls.
Wilbert is survived by his wife, Harriet, of 64 years, Daughter Brenda Werner of Delhi, Son Tom & Carrie Werner of Delhi, Son Tim & Darcy Werner of Hudson, Wisconsin. Grandchildren: Erica Werner (Ted Cook), Fargo; Mary (Erik) Brunner, Fairbanks, AK; Catherine (Doug) Nichols, Redwood Falls; Wilbert Werner, Belview; Colleen Werner, Minneapolis; Tyler, Rachel, and Derek Werner of Hudson Wisconsin. Great-Grandchildren: Andrew Brunner, Jackson & Eva Nichols. Siblings: sister Ruth (Robert) Rehm, sister Ardys Muetzel, brother Gordon (Gail) Werner, Howard (Jewel) Werner, sister in laws- Lynette Werner, Sharon Werner, Linda Werner, Faye Miller and Shirley (John) Chapin.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, father and mother in law Herman and Viola Miller, baby sister Lorna, brothers-Vincent, Robert, George. Brother in laws-Darold Muetzel and Herman Miller. Nephews-Tony Werner and Jeff Muetzel.
