Violet A. Seifert, 90 of Morgan died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 1, 2018 from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with burial to follow in the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday, November 30, 2018, from 4 until 7 p.m. with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Nelson-Hillestad Funeral Home in Morgan. Visitation will continue Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m., at the church.

Violet A. Seifert the daughter of Edward and Rose (Holm) Platz, was born on January 26, 1928 rural Springfield, Minnesota. Violet attended a country school.
On October 17, 1961, Violet married Raymond Seifert at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Springfield. They lived and farmed in Morgan Township where she helped Ray raise feeder pigs and sheep, as the flock of sheep was up to 500 strong. Violet, along with Ray, spent many a night in the barn during lambing season! They spent some of their free time dancing to Old Time music at local dances. Violet enjoyed gardening and watching Vikings and Twins games.
Violet was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, where she had been a CCW member.
Violet is survived by her children; Rosemary (Charlie) Bertzyk-Leiby of Manawa, Wisconsin, Ruth Ann Seifert of Marshall, and Ronald Seifert of Morgan; and her sister Verona Staloch of Byron, Minnesota; sister in laws; Gloria Platz of Sleepy Eye and Alpha Platz of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Also surviving are her grandchildren Lawrence (Sarah) Bertzyk III, Nichole (Gibran) Lopez, Jessica (Brandan) Schunk, Landon Hindermann, and Kolton Matthys; and great-grandchildren Kadence Schunk, Destini Schunk, Mia Rae Bertzyk, and Penelope Rose Lopez. She was preceded in death by her husband Ray in 2017; granddaughter Tina Ann Bertzyk; great-grandson Destin Schunk; son-in-law Lawerence Bertzyk, Jr; daughter’s fiancé Daniel Matthys; brothers Leo Platz and Albert Platz and brother in law Alex Staloch.
