Rose Jennie Kohout, the daughter of Michael and Rose (Serbus) Goblish, was born in 1926 in Henryville Township, Renville County, Minnesota.
On January 27, 1948, Rose married William Kohout in Bechyn. The couple lived near Bechyn where Rose worked on the farm with her husband and raised their children. In 1993, they retired to Redwood Falls. She was the most wonderful mother in the whole wide world.
At St. Mary’s in Bechyn, Rose was a religious education teacher and member and past president of CCW. She served as a co-chair along with William of the summer church festival. In Redwood Falls, she was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church where she belonged to the CCW, was a religious education teacher, and was a member of the St. Theresa Mission. Rose enjoyed leading the rosary before mass and was a lay minister for communion. She enjoyed fishing with her sons, shopping with her daughters, tending a large flower and vegetable garden, and spending time with her family. Rose lived a life in service of others. She came to serve, not to be served. She set a grace filled example.
She is survived by her children Judy (Steve) Rien of Annandale, Gene Kohout of Redwood Falls, Karen (Melvin) Piekarski of Little Falls, Shirley (Leonard Allen) Kohout of Missoula, Montana, Marsha (Eldon) Fluck of Redwood Falls, Mike (Phyllis) Kohout of Redwood Falls, Renee (Dennis) Cash of Atwater, John (Colleen) Kohout of Olivia, Joan (Jim) Ryan of Miltona, Laurie (Joe) Scherer of Missoula, Montana, and Larry (Liz) Kohout of Redwood Falls; 21 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Marie Wertish of Renville.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband William on January 19, 2003; three brothers, and two sisters.
Blessed be her memory.
