Robert “Bob” D. Nolting, age 96, of Redwood Falls, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at River Valley Health and Rehabilitation in Redwood Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 16, 2024, at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, MN, with burial to follow in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery - Redwood Falls at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held on Monday, September 16, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the church. Robert "Bob" Donald Nolting was born on December 15, 1927, to Robert H. and Dorothy (Slaymaker) Nolting in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County, Minnesota. He attended a one-room country school from grades 1-8. He graduated from Wabasso High School in 1945. After school, he served in the United States Navy, was stationed at Pearl Harbor and worked on restoring the naval base. Upon return, Bob studied agriculture at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
On September 23, 1950, Bob married Marjory "Bunny" Kohn at First Lutheran Church in Saint Paul, Minnesota. They resided south of Redwood Falls, where Bob farmed for 13 years. Bob and his family moved to Redwood Falls and he worked as a Loan Officer and Branch Manager at Production Credit Association for 23 years. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls, serving as an elder and deacon, as well as volunteering at numerous church events. He served his community through roles at the Redwood County Livestock Improvement Association, New Ulm Creamery, Minnesota Valley Breeding Association, Jaycees, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Redwood Falls Hospital Board, Travelers Club, Masons, and American Legion. Over the years, Bob's free time was spent playing softball, hunting, fishing, camping, woodworking, feeding birds, and attending high school sports.
Bob is survived by his wife Bunny Nolting of 73 years; children Donald (Brenda) Nolting of Rapid City, SD, Linda (Michael) Dahmes of Redwood Falls, Carol (Bradley) Stienstra of Huntington Beach, CA, Nancy (Kevin) Miller of Redwood Falls, and James Nolting of Apple Valley; 11 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother Jesse (Judy) Nolting of Bird Island, brother Gary Nolting of Arizona, sister-in-law Joyce Nolting of Redwood Falls; and many other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Dorothy Nolting, brother Maynard Nolting, sister Betty (Hank) Luttmer, and sister-in-law Ellen Nolting.
