Rita Price, 83, of New Ulm and formerly of Wabasso, died Saturday, June 2, 2018 at New Ulm Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 from St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Wabasso with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday, from 9 until 11 a.m.
The family requests memorials be directed to St. Anne’s School in Wabasso, or the Wabasso Public Library.

Rita Margaret Price, the daughter of Albert and Ann (Jenniges) Schunk, was born March 5, 1935 in Wabasso. She grew up in Wabasso and received her formal education at St. Anne’s School, graduating from St. Anne’s High School in 1953. Rita furthered her education at St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Rochester, receiving her degree as a Registered Nurse in 1956. She was employed as a nurse in Virginia, Minnesota and with St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
On October 19, 1957, Rita married Edward L. Price at St. Anne’s Church and they made their home on the Price farm near Wabasso. Rita devoted her life to raising their 11 children. She was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, and the Catholic Council of Women. Rita belonged to the St. Anne’s Funeral Choir until she moved to New Ulm in 2015. She was also involved in a sing-along group and the Ridgeway on 23rd Bell Choir in New Ulm. In her spare time, Rita enjoyed gardening and reading. She loved sponsoring children through the Unbound Nairobi Project. Above all, Rita loved her faith, her husband, her family and her friends!
She is survived by her children Ken (Rachael) Price of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ann (Tim) Fleming of Medina, Art (Sharon) Price of Mankato, Carol Price of Albuquerque, Vince (Laurie) Price of Portland, Oregon, Judy (Wells) Ashby of Bend, Oregon, Nick (Alma) Price of Wabasso, Alice Price of Prescott, Arizona, Philip (Barb) Price of Mankato, and Sy (Katherine) Price of Scottsdale, Arizona; 35 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Rita was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 2002; son Peter Price; granddaughter Danielle Price; brothers Sylvester, Albert Jr., Father Gerald, Vince, Jerome, and Ken; and sister Shirley.
