Nels Chris Madsen

September 25, 1957 — October 9, 2013

Nels Chris Madsen, 56, of Brooklyn Park formerly of Morgan, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at the Sleepy Eye Medical Center in Sleepy Eye. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Evan with burial to follow at the Dannabod Cemetery in Brookville Township. Visitation will be held at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan on Monday, October 14, 2013 from 4 until 8 p.m. and will continue on Tuesday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Nels, the son of Evangeline (Vangie) and the late Linus Madsen of Morgan, was born September 25, 1957 in Redwood Falls. He grew up in Morgan and attended the Morgan Public School where he participated in wrestling and football; he graduated with the class of 1976.

Nels then went on to attend Willmar Vocational Technical School to become an Auto Parts Technician. He then moved to Brooklyn Park where he worked at Versa Die Cast as a die caster.

During his youth he enjoyed being in 4-H and showing calves at the county fair. Nels also loved spending time with his family and friends playing softball and fishing.

He is survived by his mother Vangie of Morgan; siblings Linus (JoAnn) Madsen, Jr. of Redwood Falls, Randy (Diane) Madsen of Gibbon, Raymond (Karen) Madsen of Humboldt, Iowa, Susan (Kevin) Anderson of Spicer, Sharon (Al) Seifert of Blair, Wisconsin, Bob (Erin) Madsen of Eagle Bend, Mary Madsen of Willmar, Larry Madsen of Owatonna, and Jane (Dennis) Hillberg of Watertown, SD; and many nieces and nephews.

Nels was preceded in death by his father, Linus Madsen; his grandparents; sister-in-law Rebecca Madsen; and niece Amanda Seifert.
