Mildred Tauer, 93, of Morgan died Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 29, 2012 from St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan with Father Mark Steffl officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2012, from 4 until 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Morgan. Visitation will continue at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

Mildred Anna Schmidt, the daughter of Theodore and Anna (Huschke) Schmidt, was born June 8, 1919 in Jessop, Iowa. She attended country school and graduated from high school with honors in 1932.
On June 14, 1939, Mildred married Leo Tauer at St. Michael’s Catholic Church and the couple settled on a farm near Morgan. Together, they farmed in Three Lakes Township until moving to Morgan in 1979. In September of 2006 they moved to Countryside Living in Sleepy Eye. On May 2, 2009, the couple moved to Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan where Mildred was living at the time of her death.
Mildred was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Morgan and belonged to Catholic United Financial. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and sewing quilts.
Mildred is survived by her 10 children Lucy (Gerald) Moldan of Lamberton, Janet (Bill) Madsen of Morgan, Diana (Paul) Faulhaber of Helena, Montana, Alice (Jim) Kamrath of Casa Grande, Arizona, Loren (Janelle) Tauer of Ithaca, New York, Nancy (Paul) Reisch of Watertown, South Dakota, June (Ron) Thomas of Corcoran, Doug Tauer (Anita) of Redwood Falls, Frank Tauer (Bev) of Sartell, and Kathy (Matt) Kirschstein of Sanborn. She is also survived by her 33 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, in March 2010; brothers Ray, Lawrence, and John; sister Ellen Irlbeck; and one grandchild.
