Mayme Caroline Jensen, the daughter of John J. and Annie (Mosier) Nolting, was born April 7, 1914 on the family farm in Waterbury Township, Redwood County. She grew up on the family farm and received her elementary education in the nearby school.
On October 10, 1934, Mayme married Earl Milbert Jensen in Delhi. They lived and farmed on the Nolting farm before moving to rural Morgan for a short time. They then purchased, and moved back to, the Nolting farm in Waterbury Township where they lived until Earl’s death in 1961. Mayme was a life-long homemaker. She baked wedding cakes (scratch-made angel food!) and gave haircuts to everybody in the neighborhood. Mayme loved her chickens and was in her glory doing chores in her blue jeans and flannel shirt. She wintered in Pharr, Texas for 20 years.
Mayme is survived by her son Eugene (Eileen) Jensen of Emily; daughter Earlene (George) Davis of Wabasso; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Earl on June 15, 1961; brothers Ervin, Robert, and Glenn Nolting; and sisters Mae Lang and Grace Johnson.
Blessed be her memory.
