LeRoy Harold Risse

LeRoy H. Risse, 71, of Wabasso died Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Seasons hospice in Redwood Falls. Private family services and burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Visitation will be held at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls on Friday, April 19, 2013, from 4 until 7 p.m. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2013 at the funeral home.

LeRoy Harold Risse, the son of Harold and Gladys (Jensen) Risse, was born February 1, 1942 in Redwood Falls. He grew up in Wabasso and received his formal education there, graduating from Wabasso Public School with the Class of 1960. LeRoy was inducted into the United States Army in 1964. He served as a cook with the 83rd Artillery in Germany for 18 months and then at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. LeRoy was honorably discharged in 1966 and returned to Wabasso.

He was employed with the Redwood County Highway Department for 32 years, retiring in 1999. LeRoy was a member of the Wabasso Fire Department and belonged to the American Legion in Wabasso.

He is survived by his sisters Peggy Pederson (Randy Robb) of Westbrook, and Deb (Dean) Havlicek of Redwood Falls; nieces, nephews, and friends. LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister and brother-in-law Donna and Dick Cady.
