LaVonne "Bonnie" Lucille Hertling

LaVonne “Bonnie” Hertling, 82, of Redwood Falls died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at the Cottagewood Senior Communities in Mankato. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in Redwood Falls Cemetery in Redwood Falls. Visitation will also be held on Thursday, October 24, 2013, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the church.

LaVonne “Bonnie” Lucille Schablin Hertling was born on September 1, 1931 to Arthur and Hazel (Roush) Schablin in Morton. She attended and graduated high school in Redwood Falls.

On April 25, 1949, Bonnie married Bernard Hertling in South Dakota. Through the years she was very busy raising their children. Bonnie also did clerical work and was an insurance secretary. She was employed by Redwood Medical Center and PBR Optical.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Redwood Falls. Bonnie was a beautiful seamstress in both sewing and quilting. She enjoyed canning tomatoes and pickles and making pies.

Bonnie is survived by her children Paula (Doug) Smithson of Mankato, Bill (Paula) Hertling of Albert Lea, Elizabeth Hyser of Tea, South Dakota, and Amy (Mark) Hertling-Johnson of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving are grandchildren Nathan, Katy, Andrew, Hannah, Sarah, Madison, Piper, Matthew, and Sidney; and great-grandchildren Benjamin and Ellie. Further surviving are her siblings Robert (Euliliah) Schablin of Springfield, Donald (Joyce) Schablin of Ohio, Lynda (John) Goblish, and Doug (Cindy) Schablin of Redwood Falls. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard on July 18, 2010 and brother Lee Schablin.
