Kristy Engel, 60, of Morgan died Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Redwood Area Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 15, 2017, from 4 until 7 p.m., and will continue on Tuesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m., all at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan.

Kristy Lynn Engel, the daughter of Donald and Barbara (Kessler) Berg, was born February 20, 1957 in Sibley County, Minnesota. She grew up in Gaylord where she received her formal education. Following high school graduation, Kristy attended Willmar Vocational-Technical Institute.
On March 30, 1985, Kristy married Thomas Engel at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord and they made their home on the Engel family farm in rural Morgan. Kristy was first and foremost a wife and mother; she also was a dedicated paraprofessional at Cedar Mountain schools for 19 years. Kristy retired from Cedar Mountain in 2011 to take care of her grandchildren. Kristy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Morgan where she served as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the education committee.
Kristy is survived by her husband Tom of Morgan; daughters Rachel (David) Krenz of Morgan, and Nicole Engel (special friend Bruce Bolkema) of Marshall; grandchildren Kylie and Levi Krenz; and sisters Gail (Scott) Bartush of Victoria, and Sue (Paul) Willems of Norwood Young America. She was preceded in death by her parents.
