John Waidelich, 89, of Morgan died Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2017 from the United Methodist Church in Morgan with inurnment to follow in the Morgan City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 18, from 1 until 2 p.m., at the church.

John Fred Waidelich, the son of Fred and Agnes (Gluth) Waidelich, was born May 16, 1928 in New Ulm. He grew up on the family farm near Morgan, where he has resided his entire life. John received his formal education in the nearby country school and at Morgan High School, where he graduated in 1946. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota, graduating in 1951. Following his college graduation, John entered the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1953.
On December 14, 1957, John married Marianne Mann in the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls and they lived and farmed on the family farm near Morgan. John was a life-long farmer; he particularly enjoyed milking cows and driving tractor. He semi-retired after farming full time for 54 years. John was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Morgan where he served in many volunteer capacities. He was a member of the Morgan Township Board and the Morgan Cemetery Board. John was active in the 4-H program, both as a youngster and as an adult leader when his children were members. He belonged to Friends of Gilfillan and enjoyed helping at the Gilfillan Estate.
John is survived by his wife Marianne, and sons Mike and Greg, all of rural Morgan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sisters Betty Benjamin and Marian Fritz.
