John Trebesch

John L. Trebesch, age 93, of Morgan passed away Monday, July 3, 2023 at the New Ulm Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 from Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan with burial in Zion Eden Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, rural Morgan. Visitation will be held Friday, July 7, 2023, from 5 until 8 p.m., at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan. Visitation will continue on Saturday, from 9:00 until 10:30 a.m., at the church.

John was beloved member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Morgan, MN. He will be remembered for his unwavering commitment and dedication to the church community as both the treasurer and financial secretary for numerous years.

Throughout his life, John found joy in various hobbies and interests. He had a particular fondness for listening and dancing to old-time and Polka music. He also cherished engaging in card games such as cribbage, sheephead, and 3 card poker. John's vibrant personality shone when he spent time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in teaching the younger generations how to play cribbage, passing down his knowledge and love for the game.

An avid outdoorsman, John delighted in fishing and hunting deer, buffalo, and geese. Additionally, he possessed skilled craftsmanship in woodworking. His witty sense of humor provided countless moments of laughter and joy to those around him.

John was born to Ted and Lena Trebesch and was preceded in death by his parents as well as his wife Lucille. He was also preceded by his brother Harold and sisters Laurel Beilke, Illa Mae Harmening, Delores Romberg, Eva Larrabee, Karen Pyan, Wilma Krzmarzick and daughter-in-law Lori Trebesch.

He is survived by his loving children: Peg Barron of Lakewood, CO; Dale (Patty) Trebesch of Morgan, MN; Steven (Lora) Trebesch of Eagan, MN; Donna Trebesch of Fort Myers, FL; Lynn (Robin Handy) Trebesch of Morgan, MN; Becky (Gene) Wolling of Franklin, MN; Scott (Melissa) Trebesch of Glencoe, MN. John's legacy lives on through his 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great step-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his immediate family, John is survived by his brothers William Trebesch of Sleepy Eye, MN, and Paul (Sue) Trebesch of Sleepy Eye, MN. He shared a special bond with his dear friend Martha Keil of Redwood Falls, MN.

John’s contributions to the community and passion for life will never be forgotten. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the incredible life he lived. May his soul rest in eternal peace.
