John A. Klause, 58, of Mountain Lake died Sunday, September 22, 2013 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 27, 2013 from St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in St. John’s Sheridan Cemetery, Sheridan Township, Redwood County. Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013, from 5 until 8 p.m., at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue at the church on Friday for one hour prior to services.

John Arnold Klause, the son of Arnold and Verna (Zuehlsdorf) Klause, was born April 28, 1955 in Redwood Falls. He was baptized on May 29, 1955 at Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Clements. John and his family lived on a farm near Clements until he was eight years old. At that time, they moved to a farm near Belview. John was confirmed on May 24, 1970 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sheridan Township. He attended Springfield and Belview elementary schools and Redwood Falls High School, graduating on May 29, 1975. Following graduation, John worked in the area for a couple of years before moving to Worthington where he worked at Country Kitchen. He then moved to Mountain Lake where he resided until his death. John was employed at Kennel Aire, Butterfield Foods, and Windom PM.
He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephew and buying them farm toys. John was excited to be able to do the same with his great nephews. He also liked spending time with his friends at Mountain Lake and going out to eat. John enjoyed watching western movies and comedies. He had a strong faith and enjoyed visiting with the pastor.
He is survived by his brothers James Klause of Belview, and Paul (Gail) Klause of Redwood Falls; nieces and nephew Katharine Klause, Taylor Klause and Bailey Klause all of Redwood Falls, Jennifer (Curt) Scharfencamp of Franklin, Amber Klause (fiancé Adam Sattler) of North St. Paul, and Stephanie (Scott) Lamont of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; great-nephews Jack and Caleb Scharfencamp; and many friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Verna Klause.
