Irene V. Schwint, 96 of Redwood Falls, formally of Evan, died Saturday, December 26, 2020 in the Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. A Private Family Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 2, 2021 at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church of Evan, Minnesota, with burial to follow in the Home Cemetery in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota.

Irene Vanetta Schwint was born on November 29, 1924 on the farm in rural Winthrop, Minnesota to George and Sophia (Shult) Schroeder. Irene grew up in the Winthrop and Mankato areas. On March 10, 1945 she married Maynard Schwint in Evan, Minnesota.

Irene was a part-time worker for Del Monte, Haas Press and B & L Ind. She was a member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church and belonged to WELCA and helped on various committees. Irene enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, playing cards and was a member of the Evan Whist Club. She also liked bingo, word finds and crossword puzzles. She enjoyed fishing, watching birds and was a Vikings and a Twins fan. She also did a lot of canning in her day. Irene loved family get togethers, where she would prepare big meals for the family and spoiling all her grandchildren.

Irene is survived by her children-Janice (Gary) Steffl of Shakopee, Joyce Schwint of Franklin, George (LuAnn) Schwint of Sleepy Eye, Mary (Calvin) Aarons of Bird Island, Kathy (Dale) Heiling of Morgan and Wendy Schwint of Franklin. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 8 Great-great grandchildren. She is survived by siblings- Elaine Askeland of New Ulm, Arnold (Donna) Schroeder of Mankato, Betty (John) Bruender of Madison Lake and Sharon (Frank) Tiemann of Madison Lake.

Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Maynard; parents, George and Sophia Schroeder; daughter and son-in-law, Carol and John Carruthers; grandson, Blake; siblings, Virgil, Doris and Marlys.
