Elizabeth Smith, the daughter of George and Anna (Coubal) Cady, was born June 10, 1933. She spent her childhood in Redwood Falls and received her elementary education here. She later lived and worked in Faribault, Atwater and Willmar before returning to Redwood Falls. She married William Smith; he preceded her in death.
She loved watching the cooking channel. She loved to cook and bake with staff and would copy recipes to share with them. Her favorite meal was broasted chicken, mashed potatoes and cucumber salad. She worked at Service Enterprises (SEI) and in the laundry at the hospital for many years. She attended “Jesus Cares” and participated in Special Olympics. She liked to be outside and loved flowers and also loved Christmas time. She liked having her fingernails painted and her hair done.
She loved her housemates, staff, family and friends. Her smile could light up a room. She was very proud to dance with her nephew to “You are So Beautiful (to Me)” for 2013 Relay for Life’s Dancing with the Stars.
She is survived by her son Tom Smith of Redwood Falls; siblings Sue (Doug) Ziegenhagen of Morgan, Ernie (Judy) Cady of Camino, California, Jo Ann Dehncke of Morton, Ruth Ann (Glenn) Good Thunder of Morton, and Anna Marie Pendleton of Morton; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, her parents George and Anna Cady, three brothers, three sisters, and one nephew.
Blessed be her memory.
