Charles Francis Woelfel, the son of Charles and Theresa (Kahnke) Woelfel, was born July 24, 1939 on the family farm in Birch Coulee Township, Renville County. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on August 6, 1939. Charlie attended school in Morton for a short time; he was employed at ACTS in Olivia for much of his life.
Charlie enjoyed collecting cans, taking walks around Olivia to visit friends, watching television – particularly the old TV shows, and helping with chores on the farm.
He is survived by his brothers Lenus Woelfel of Bloomington, and David Woelfel of Olivia; sister Rachel Woelfel of Olivia; guardians John and Sheila Robinson of Franklin; housemate Jacob Funk; and many nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Joe (Joan) Woelfel, Paul (Jeanet) Woelfel, Irene (Harold) Tersteeg, James Woelfel, and Victor Woelfel; and sister-in-law Marlene Woelfel.
In lieu of memorials, the family requests the following: “This week, as an act of Christmas kindness, go spend an hour at a care center visiting a resident. You may not know them and they may not know you – but you will have a good day.”
Blessed be Charlie’s memory.
