Betty Kodet, 82, of Redwood Falls died Thursday, May 9, 2013 at Seasons hospice in Redwood Falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 from St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, May 13, 2013, from 4 until 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., all at Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at the church from 9:30-10:30 a.m.

Betty Ann Kodet, the daughter of Peter and Anna (Zima) Malecek, was born October 10, 1930 in Henryville Township, Renville County. She grew up in the Bechyn area. Betty received her elementary education at the country school in Bechyn and her secondary education at Redwood Falls High School.

On October 29, 1947, Betty married Leonard Kodet at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bechyn. They made their home in North Redwood until 2009 when they moved into Redwood Falls. Betty was a devoted wife and mother. She was also employed at the Jolly Mill, Morgan’s Red Owl, J.C. Penney, and then Control Data/MPI/Zytec/Artesyn until her retirement in 1998. She was a member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church.

Betty is survived by her husband Leonard of Redwood Falls; her children Carolyn Kissel of Yankton, South Dakota, Allan (Diane) Kodet of Paynesville, and Robert (Laurie) Kodet of Northfield; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Also surviving are her brother Joe (Betty) Malecek of Redwood Falls; and sisters Rose (Charles) Dube of Faribault, Jean (Dennis) Weinzetl of Fairfax, and Annie (Gerald) Bemmels of Fairfax.

She was preceded in death by her son-in-law William Kissel; brother Peter Malecek; and sisters Mary Kodet and Lillian Dube.
