Betty Gammelgaard

Betty M. Gammelgaard, 90, of Morgan died Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Gil-Mor Manor in Morgan. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from the Gil-Mor Manor Chapel in Morgan with burial to follow in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Gilfillan. Visitation will be held Wednesday, August 17, 2016, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. at the nursing home chapel.

Betty Meran Gammelgaard, the daughter of P. Chris and A. Margrethe (Larsen) Gammelgaard, was born December 27, 1925 on the family farm in Three Lakes Township, Redwood County. She grew up on the farm and received her elementary education in District 92 rural school. Betty graduated as Valedictorian from Morgan High School and went on to study at Minnesota School of Business. She was employed with Lutheran Brotherhood in Minneapolis until her retirement in 1968. At that time Betty relocated to Morgan where she cared for her elderly parents. She also worked for the Humane Society for one year.

Betty was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church where she taught Bible school. She enjoyed gardening, doing counted cross stitch and playing the piano. Betty loved animals – especially cats and dogs.

She is survived by her sister Myrtha Gammelgaard of Morgan; cousins; and many friends. Betty was preceded in death by her parents.
