Bette Siegfried, 87, of Redwood Falls died Thursday March 10, 2011 at the Redwood Area Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 14, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church in Redwood Falls with Rev. Scott Prouty officiating. Burial will follow at the Redwood Falls Cemetery. Visitation will be held Sunday, March 13, 2011, from 4 until 7 p.m., at the Nelson-Martin Funeral Home in Redwood Falls and will continue Monday at the church for one hour prior to services.

Bette Lorraine Siegfried, the daughter of Wesley and Mabel (Blanchard) McKay, was born December 23, 1923 in Redwood Falls. She grew up in the Delhi and rural Redwood Falls areas, receiving her elementary education in country school and graduating from Delhi High School in 1941.

On December 4, 1943, Bette married Lester William Siegfried at her parents’ home. The couple made their home on the farm in rural Delhi where Bette devoted her life to taking care of her family. She was a homemaker and worked side by side with her husband on the farm. The couple retired in 1984 and moved into Redwood Falls.

Bette belonged to First Presbyterian Church of Redwood Falls where she was a member of the ladies’ circle. She enjoyed baking and all family events. Bette also belonged to the local extension group and did volunteer work.

She is survived by her husband Lester of Redwood Falls; her children Gary (Diane) Siegfried of Redwood Falls, Dennis (Vicki) Siegfried of Bemidji, Dan (Mary) Siegfried of Valley Springs, South Dakota, Julie (David) Lawson of LeRoy, Sue (Michael) Bowen of Morton, and Rick (Denise) Siegfried of Redwood Falls. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; her sister Mavis Hoffman of Wabasso; and her brother John (Marlene) McKay of Scottsdale, Arizona. Bette was preceded in death by her grandson Shawn Schunk.
