Barbara Lou Seaman was born April 27, 1940 to Einer and Hattie (Christiansen) Nielsen in Redwood Falls, Minnesota. She was raised on the family farm south of Clements, MN with her younger sister and brothers. She grew up with a large extended family and often said she had the best childhood anyone could have had. She attended the nearby country school through the 8th grade and then attended Morgan Public School graduating in 1958. Barb then moved to Minneapolis where she attended and graduated from beauty school. In 1960 she and her good friends moved to Seattle, Washington to start a new live adventure, however after a few years she missed her family and returned to Minnesota moving to Redwood Falls. It was then she met Romain (Red) Seaman and they were married September 21, 1963. Barb and Red owned and operated Red Seaman Construction for many years lining in or near Redwood Falls and Clements. Barb began working at Control Data in Redwood Falls in 1976 and continued there through many corporate changes until 2002 when she retired.
Barb loved to read and enjoyed all different types of books. When her health was good she loved to garden and had a house full of plants. She was very political and loved a good discussion about politics. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and loved to hear their little tales as she called them. She had a wonderful sense of humor that her children have all inherited. She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
Barb is survived by her daughters; Jill (Tom) Leen of Jackson, MN and Lori Dement of Bellingham, WA, Sons; Randy Seaman, Ron (Kim) Seaman, and Bob Seaman all of Redwood Falls, 15 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and sister-in-law Virginia Seaman of Redwood Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Red in 2013, sister Kay Young and brothers Richard and Kenneth Nielsen.
Blessed be her memory
